Teaching and Learning: David Merand

David Merand (1)I am a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment where I work on programs provided by the Academic Development Unit to assist students with Mathematics, Physics and Mechanics. I currently also lecture and supervise first year Mathematics for engineering.

My background is in executive management and large-scale systems architecture and development in the corporate world. While in this world, I also gained extensive experience in labour law matters, performance management and assessment practices and employee development programs.

My research interest is in difficulties related to the understanding of mathematical concepts and ways in which this can be addressed using techniques such as visualisation.
