The Annual General Meeting of ASAWU for 2016 took place on 10 November at 16h00 at the Wits Club.
During this time of great conflict and uncertainty in the higher education sector, it was more important than ever that members participate in the democratic processes of our union. The AGM was well attended and seven new Executive Committee members were elected. Much has been achieved in the past five years, but the challenges that lie ahead are significant.
How is the union administrated and governed? Read the ASAWU Constitution.
ASAWU is a labour union representing the interests of academic staff at Wits. A union is nothing without its members. Our influence in the university community lies in our collective form. Any academic staff member, including those on contracts and post-doctoral fellows, can join the union. If you have any colleagues who are not yet members, please encourage them to join.
The next AGM will take place in November 2017. Members will be informed via email, social media and this website at least three weeks in advance of the date, time and location of the meeting. In the meantime, if there is anything that you would like to bring to the attention of your union, make your voice heard by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
